Arbitration – This is a simplified version of a trial usually involving little or no discovery and simplified rules of evidence. Either both sides agree on one arbitrator, or each side selects one arbitrator and the two arbitrators elect the third to comprise a panel. Arbitration hearings usually take less time than a trial and the opinions are not public record.
Mediation - A less formal alternative to litigation in which a trained mediator negotiates with opposing parties in an effort to work out a settlement or agreement that both parties accept or reject. Robert A. Longhi is qualified as a Certified Mediator by the National Judicial College.
